Exiled

Teenage boys Taku and Connor are separated by an authoritarian father who locks his children away in a secret underground biodome because he believes doomsday is always around the corner.

But Taku and his twin sister escape, and as they search for a way back to the surface, they come across a strange passage extending the other way—six miles down. At the bottom, they find a fantastical civilization of non-sapiens, whose culture profoundly impacts them, in a city called Tsulkat. Meanwhile, back in Pittsburgh, Connor is desperate to solve the mystery of his boyfriend Taku’s disappearance.

Driven by the same desperation, Taku retraces his steps to the biodome. Chaos erupts, leading to a surprising reunion. But amid the joyful tears, terror awaits. Can Taku’s friends from the other civilization help? Will Taku and Connor be free to live their lives as they choose?
